Equality sounds like a noble goal, but what exactly does equality look like? More importantly, how do you achieve equality?

Proponents of equality frame it as the pinnacle of justice, finally escaping antiquated notions such as merit and choice and entering a new era where everyone lives a beautiful life. Missing from the agenda is how equality is to be implemented, and by whom?

Let’s say we “level the playing field.” Do you truly believe everyone will be capable of running at the same speed? Of course not. Will you be able to change the slowest person such that they can run aside the fastest? Again, of course not. How then do we achieve equality? By forcing the faster runners to slow down.

And there is the miserable underbelly of equality. You can only have equality by limiting others, by standing in the way of excellence. In other words, equality can only be achieved through oppression.

Equality is not a noble goal. It is a wicked proposition.

Equality is oppression – with a smile.
