Below we explain some of our philosophical underpinnings and our views of the left vs right political conundrum.

What’s your perspective on left vs right?

The left vs right political paradigm essentially describes the argument over government scope, or how much government is enough. One good analogy is to envision the left vs right scale as a volume control knob, and think of government as noise. If you turn the volume to maximum, that represents the “extreme” left. Government is making as much noise as possible, grating, debilitating noise. You can’t hear others speak, you can’t hear yourself think, you can’t perform to your best level, you are so hounded by the incredibly loud noise of government, you are absolutely miserable.

Now turn the volume down to zero. Complete, peaceful silence. No more miserable screeching to endure. Just the complete ability to be yourself, to pursue your passions, become your best.

Is the noise really gone though? Not really. It’s still there, you just can’t hear it.

That’s exactly what the right is motivated to achieve. Government that is there but completely undetectable in every day life.

The left is animated by the opposite. Total government control over every aspect of life. Complete dominance of the state over the individual.

But what about progress (progressivism)?

Across history, the vast majority of humans have lived at the mercy of a few. If history can be described as a continuum, moving from one place to another, it is reasonable to say that we should be moving away from living at the mercy of a few and toward a life in which we determine our own destinies, where we live as free individuals, not subjects.

Political leftism promotes the notion that there is a class of people who simply cannot live harmoniously or productively without guidance, without a framework in which to live. Therefore it follows that there is also a class of people who should be tasked with the responsibility of providing that guidance, for designing and enforcing the framework. Political leftism embodies the historical norm of the many living subservient to the few. Political leftism historically and inevitably leads to incredible destruction because those who are told to live a certain way tend to not want to.

In contrast to political leftism, the political right embraces self-determination and individuality as the most beautiful expressions of human life, and strives to create systems of government in which the individual is able to live as freely as possible, given the ability to express that individuality without infringing on another.

As such, the left clings to history, while the right eyes the future.

If you are truly interested in progress and a true historical trajectory considered progressive, you will gravitate toward the right.

What about right wing fascism and anarchy?

If you subscribe to a modern academic view of the left-to-right political spectrum, you will likely describe the political left through systems such as Communism and Socialism, and you will describe the political right as Fascist or perhaps even Anarchist. These characterizations are dishonest at best, intentionally misleading at worst.

Anarchy is the absence of a social or governmental order, essentially chaos. Since there is no government, there is no left or right at all. Therefore Anarchy does not belong on any political continuum, at least one that describes government. However, if you insist in placing it along the left-to-right political spectrum, it would be best positioned on the left, and accurately positioned as the absolute extreme of  the far left. Consider that Anarchy is essentially rebellion against an unwanted societal order, a rejection of government. It is not reasonable to anticipate the rejection of a societal order in which the individual is able to live in a manner that is most satisfying to that individual. It is reasonable to anticipate the rejection of a societal order in which the individual is not capable of living to satisfaction, or is forced to live far away from any degree of satisfaction at all. As a society moves leftward along the political spectrum, it will move closer to Anarchy until finally exploding in a violent rejection of oppression.

Fascism is a system in which the means of production, property, is owned privately but controlled politically. It is, in essence, a sham in which the illusion of private property is maintained while production and property is actually controlled by those in the ruling class. Fascism is another example of the many being subverted by the few, of a limited government class wielding authority over the larger society through control of its economy. Fascism even tries to mitigate resistance to government control by employing the veneer of private ownership. Fascism is, by design, affirmation that people reject the notion that they must be forced to live as they do not want to. Fascism is an embodiment of the ideals of the political left, wrapped in the trappings of the right. While it may reside somewhere on the political spectrum, it certainly belongs among the systems of the left, as it is not an honest expression of individual freedom.
